Shona Vertue’s Blueberry and Cardamom Smoothie Bowl

Cardamom is part of the same family as ginger and can help to alleviate digestive problems like an upset stomach. Good quality yoghurts contain probiotics, which play a role in so many functions within the body. In fact, there are some strains of gut flora that play a part in effective brain function. Fermented foods are also great for the gut.

Ingredients
50g frozen blueberries, plus a few extra for the top
150g low-fat plain yoghurt, or 70g coconut yoghurt
10g (about ½ scoop) vanilla protein powder
a teeny-tiny pinch of ground cardamom (too much will be overpowering)

Method
Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until creamy and smooth.

You may need to stir in between bouts of blending to mix all the ingredients.

Transfer to a bowl and top with extra berries to serve.
